Who is SilverWing anyway?

SilverWing Graphics is owned and managed by Michelle LeFree. Michelle, an engineer and physicist by education, has over 30 years experience as a computer professional, primarily in the area of computer analysis of medical images (from X-ray, Nuclear, Diagnostic Ultrasound, CT & MRI imaging devices). She worked in academic medical imaging research for over 20 years at the Universities of Colorado and Michigan. While there, she authored or co-authored over 100 scientific papers and abstracts and contributed numerous computer-related technical developments still in use in medical imaging today.

Michelle ended her academic research career in 1987 when she started her own medical software company to transfer key elements of the technology she had developed to the commercial sector. She managed and grew this company for 8 years, and then sold it to a larger medical device manufacturer in the northwest where she was hired to continue her research in the mathematical analysis of cardiac x-rays. Her work there resulted in a United States Patent. While president of her own small company, Michelle was directly responsible for all business and technical developments, interactions with the FDA, and all marketing, trade show, and advertising involvements.

It was during her tenure as president of her own company (which was competing with large multinational x-ray manufacturers and software companies for attention at medical trade shows) that she learned first-hand of the value and importance of a quality corporate identity as reflected in a company's visual communications. She learned how to develop a unique and cohesive corporate identity by working long hours hand-in-hand with seasoned experts in the areas of graphic design, advertising, marketing, and technical writing.

Longing to return to the majestic beauty of her home state of Colorado, Michelle left her fruitful medical imaging career in the year of 2000 and settled on Colorado's Western Slope. She started SilverWing Graphics to assist small Western Slope companies and organizations in developing communications that reflect the quality and uniqueness of their products as well as the culture and tone of their company. She specializes in helping small businesses develop and maintain that kind "corporate polish" that distinguishes their company at a glance.

Michelle draws upon nearly 40 years of experience in photography, over 30 years experience at the cutting edge of computer imaging, and a number of years as a small business owner. She uses the latest digital tools to create sparkling printed and electronic documents that deliver her client company's messages with style. Michelle especially enjoys working with small businesses for two reasons. One, she finds entrepreneurs, especially those on the Western Slope, to be the most vibrant and exciting people out there. Two, she knows what kind of real impact our work together can have for their businesses.
